New concept of Smart shipping vessel

Design and subsequent construction of a prototype of an intelligent fishing vessel belonging to the coastal fleet with the highest levels of safety and automation of all its navigation and fishing operations. A ship capable of carrying out a responsible, competitive and efficient fishing. In order to carry out this project, the following criteria will be taken into account: fishing resources, fisheries revenues from the sale of fish, crew expenses, fuel consumption, limitation of length, power, fishing gear, environmental issues, etc.
Sectors of Activity:
Research & innovation
Objective:
The main goal is to reinvent the fishing boat and its more profitable use, applying state-of-the-art technology to boost such a traditional sector. In short, the project tries to make real the fishing vessel of the future. This type of vessel will promote business opportunities for companies / countries involved given that it is a perfectly exportable idea. This prototype will automate all processes, minimizing the handling of fish, it will advance the sale given that it can be done during navigation without going through the fish market, since it will be possible to weigh and classify the goods on board. At the same time, the proposed ship will reduce fuel costs through diesel-electric propulsion.
Beneficiaries:
The new fishing vessel will be marked by the areas incorporating major innovations: the modularized hold, the bridge and communications and the new propulsion system that will result in the greatest improvements occurring on the ship.
Main activities:
Ship design will include innovative elements giving priority to those related to energy efficiency, propulsion and other aspects related to improving occupational safety and comfort on board (mechanization and automation of fishing operations, enabling) communications and information technologies.
Main deliverables:
The aim of this new proposal is to focus in this new concept of ship, analyzing new propulsion systems, improving energy efficiency, reducing the environmental impact so that it encourages a sustainable fishing gear and takes care of the safety of crews at sea. To this end, once the project has been defined, the appropriate examinations and tank tests should be held working in cooperation with other countries involved.
