Marine Pollution in the Atlantic Ocean: the role of interregional cooperation and EU leverages

The CPMR Atlantic Arc Commission will organise UN Ocean Conference Side Event addressing Marine Pollution in the Atlantic Ocean: the role of interregional cooperation and EU leverages, which will be held on June 28 2022 (13.15 – 14.45 WEST, local hour) in Lisbon, Portugal, at Tivoli Oriente Hotel. The discussion will be chaired by President António Cunha, President of Norte Region.

This event will aim at discussing ideas to tackle marine pollution through transnational cooperation. The CPMR Atlantic Arc Commission Pledge for a Clean Atlantic Ocean, voted in our General Assembly will be promoted on this occasion as well as:

  • An interactive dialogue will feature panelists from the European Parliament, the European Commission, OSPAR and the Atlantic Strategy Pillar IV and will aim at gathering inputs on how to better address marine pollution and boost interregional cooperation in the Atlantic Area. Ideas of Atlantic flagship projects should be the outcome of the meeting;
  • The actions against marine litter of the CleanAtlantic project, of which the Atlantic Arc Commission is a partner.

Please note that by participating to the UN Atlantic Arc Commission side event, you will not need a UN accreditation as the workshop will be held next to the official venue, at Tivoli Oriente Hotel. A buffet will be at the disposal of participants during the workshop. 40 people are expected to participate.
